A day after addressing the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s call for peace in the Rajya Sabha amid the West Asia war, urging all sides to return to dialogue and diplomacy. He outlined the government’s strategy to tackle the energy crisis, highlighting a sharp push in domestic LPG production and steps to ensure uninterrupted supply. Modi asserted that India is actively securing oil and gas shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, flagging the global economic fallout of the conflict. He assured that there is a clear roadmap to cushion the impact on India. However, the opposition remained unimpressed. Rahul Gandhi attacked the Prime Minister, calling him compromised and attributing the crisis to failed foreign policy. The government’s plan includes safe passage for Indian tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, boosting domestic LPG production, importing energy from 41 nations, prioritising domestic LPG users, urging commercial users to shift to PNG, promoting domestic fertiliser use, facilitating online LPG bookings, and cracking down on black marketeers and hoarders.
