Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on the West Asia crisis, reiterating India’s call for peace through dialogue and diplomacy. He outlined the government’s strategy to tackle the gas crisis, highlighting a sharp push in domestic LPG production and steps to ensure uninterrupted supply. Modi stated that despite challenges in the Hormuz Strait due to the war, India is actively securing oil and gas shipments passing through the critical route. He revealed that he has spoken with most West Asian leaders in two rounds of phone calls, and India remains in contact with Gulf countries, Iran, Israel, and the United States. The Prime Minister assured that over 3.75 lakh Indians have safely returned from abroad since the war began, including more than 1,000 from Iran. However, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticised the Prime Minister, alleging that his foreign policy has compromised the country’s position, calling it a universal joke and warning of problems ahead for India.
