PM Modi Meets Philippines President Marcos Jr. At Hyderabad House In New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Philippines President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in India-Philippines relations. The meeting, part of Marcos Jr.’s five-day state visit, coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. Discussions focused on deepening cooperation in defense, maritime security, trade, and digital connectivity, with several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) exchanged to strengthen the strategic partnership. President Marcos Jr., accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and a high-level delegation, also met President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The visit underscores India’s ‘Act East’ Policy and shared Indo-Pacific vision, aiming to enhance bilateral trade, which reached USD 3.5 billion in 2023-24, and defense ties, including the 2022 BrahMos missile deal.
