On July 27, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a mega 9-kilometer roadshow across Trichy and Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu, engaging with thousands of supporters as part of his two-day visit to the state. The roadshow, which began after his arrival in Trichy on July 26, followed his inauguration of development projects worth over ₹4,800 crore in Thoothukudi and preceded his participation in the Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival at Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple in Ariyalur. Accompanied by BJP state president Nainar Nagendran and former president K Annamalai, PM Modi waved to enthusiastic crowds from a specially decorated vehicle, with supporters chanting slogans and showering flower petals. The event, under tight security with over 2,000 police personnel and a five-tier arrangement involving the Special Protection Group (SPG), Tamil Nadu police, and central agencies, highlighted Modi’s focus on connecting with the public and promoting Tamil Nadu’s cultural and developmental progress ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. The roadshow started from the helipad near Cholagangam in Ponneri, Ariyalur, and proceeded to the temple, with the route adorned with flags and garlands.
