Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Trinidad and Tobago highlighted the deep cultural ties between the two nations, especially with Bihar. The PM was welcomed by the Bihari community with Bhojpuri Chautal. Modi addressed a gathering of the Indian diaspora, which comprises 40% of Trinidad and Tobago’s population. He referred to Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamala Prasad as ‘Bihar ki beti’, noting her ancestral roots in Bihar’s Bakhtar. The PM also presented a replica of Ram Mandir and water from the Saryu river, acknowledging the diaspora’s contribution to the Ayodhya temple. The visit underscored the historical connection between India and Trinidad and Tobago, dating back to the era of indentured laborers.
