Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pamban Bridge, India’s first vertical sea lift railway bridge, in Rameswaram. The bridge, constructed at a cost of over 500 crores, features a 72.8-metre platform that can be fully lifted to allow ships to pass. PM Modi, dressed in traditional veshti and angavastram, witnessed the bridge’s operation, including a train crossing and a Coast Guard ship passing through. The event coincided with Ram Navami, with the Prime Minister also visiting the Ramanathaswamy temple.
