Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Imphal, Manipur, for the first time since the ethnic violence began in 2023. During his visit, he met with internally displaced people and victims of the violence at the historic Kangla Fort. The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately ₹8,500 crore across the state. He delivered a message focused on peace, progress, and reconciliation, urging all groups to find a peaceful resolution. He was quoted as saying, "I appeal to all organizations to move forward on the path of peace, fulfill their dreams, and secure the future of their children. And today I promise you, I am with you." The visit occurred against a backdrop of criticism and protests from the opposition Congress party, which termed the visit as ‘too little, too late’.
