In a speech before parliament, a speaker declared the lecture a celebration of ‘India’s Vijaya Utsava’ or victory festival. This follows the "cruel" terror attack in Pahalgam on 22nd April, where assailants killed people after identifying their religion. The speaker recounted a resolution made after the incident: "We will destroy the terrorists. And I said it in a positive way. Their leaders will be punished. And a bigger punishment than imagination." Following a high-level meeting, the army was given a free hand. On the night of 6th May and the morning of 7th May, a military operation was conducted. The speaker stated that in 22 minutes, the army took revenge for the 22nd April attack, despite Pakistan anticipating a major operation and issuing statements about nuclear weapons.
