Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Thrissur, Kerala, as the BJP targets five to six assembly seats in what the party describes as its most favourable electoral situation in the state. India Today’s Shibu Mallike reported that BJP’s realistic target is five to six seats, marking a crucial election for the party which lost its only assembly seat in 2021. The roadshow featured key candidates including Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, who switched to BJP two years ago and is contesting from Thrissur. Union Minister and Thrissur MP Suresh Gopi, one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars, also led the roadshow. The BJP has shown consistent progress, winning the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat and the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Another prominent candidate is CC Mukundan, a former CPI MLA who joined BJP before the elections. Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address three rallies in central Kerala, focusing on Christian-dominated constituencies.
