Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first train, the Rajasthani Express, connecting Aizawl in Mizoram to the national railway grid. Speaking from Lengpui Airport, the Prime Minister stated that the Bairabi-Sairang rail line is a ‘lifeline of transformation’ that will benefit farmers, businesses, and youth. He contrasted his government’s approach with past ‘vote bank politics,’ stating, "The entire Northeast, including states like Mizoram, suffered greatly because of this attitude. Those who were earlier neglected are at the forefront now." The address also covered the government’s ‘Act East’ policy, GST reforms making essentials cheaper, and noted that the economy grew by 7.8% in the first quarter of 2025-26, making India the fastest-growing major economy.
