In a tragic development from Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has passed away following a fatal plane crash in Baramati. The Prime Minister spoke to Sharad Pawar to express his condolences, describing the late leader as a ‘hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra.’ The aircraft, which was carrying five people including the Deputy Chief Minister, crashed while en route to public meetings ahead of local polls. All individuals on board have been confirmed dead. Reports indicate that the remains were identified by the watch the leader was wearing. While speculation initially suggested a cremation today, it has been confirmed that the ‘antim sanskar’ or last rites will be conducted tomorrow at 11:00 AM to allow family members and supporters to gather. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced three days of state mourning as thousands of supporters descend upon Baramati to pay their final respects to the NCP leader.
