Prime Minister Modi is in London for a two-day visit, the first leg of a two-nation tour. The centerpiece of the visit is the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which has been under negotiation for three years. The talks between PM Modi and his British counterpart on July 24 will also cover defence, terrorism, the issue of Khalistan extremism in the UK, and the extradition of economic fugitives like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi. While the FTA is expected to significantly boost trade, there are also protective measures for India’s sensitive sectors. As one expert noted, "This proposed FTA enshrines the protection measures for… the sensitive sectors for the Indian agrarian economy, and therefore this proposed FTA enshrines the protection measures for these things, because there will be no tariff concessions for the dairy products of India." The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet King Charles III.
