Vice President Sara Duterte’s political troubles are far from over as House leaders vow to hold her accountable for alleged misuse of ₱612.5 million in confidential funds from 2022 and 2023. House Deputy Speakers Paolo Ortega V and Jay Khonghun warned that if the Supreme Court maintains its decision declaring Duterte’s impeachment case unconstitutional, the House will explore other ways to seek justice. However, they say it would be best if the SC reverses its ruling to allow the Senate impeachment court to proceed — even if 19 senators had earlier voted to archive the case. The controversy could reignite tensions at the highest levels of Philippine politics.
