In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Dr Mohsen Farkhani, an international relations expert and university professor based in Isfahan, shared his perspective on the ongoing Iran-US conflict and the current two-week ceasefire. Dr Farkhani alleged that the United States has attempted various methods to topple Iran’s governing system, including the use of terrorist groups and high-level security operations targeting nuclear facilities. He dismissed the US narrative of a ‘rescue operation’ as a deception aimed at global public opinion. Regarding the two-week pause in hostilities, Farkhani interpreted it as a ‘golden opportunity’ for the US administration to salvage its national interests and focus on internal social issues, such as homelessness. He claimed that Iran achieved its primary targets early in the conflict by demonstrating American ‘incapability’ and imposing economic costs, specifically noting the high expense for the US to counter Iranian drones. Dr Farkhani warned that further ‘rude’ rhetoric from Donald Trump could trigger more severe retaliation from the Iranian people.
