Parliament experienced a massive uproar following the introduction of three new bills by Union Home Minister Amit Shah: the Constitution 130th Amendment Bill, the Government of Union Territories Amendment Bill, and the J&K Reorganisation Amendment Bill 2025. All three bills have been referred to a Joint Committee of the Parliament. During the introduction, opposition Members of Parliament protested, leading to the session’s adjournment. The most contentious legislation is the Criminal Neta Bill, which proposes automatic removal of Prime Ministers, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, or State Ministers if held in custody for 30 consecutive days on serious criminal charges punishable with five years or more, even without a conviction.
