Pakistan carried out airstrikes on Afghanistan, hitting a drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul and killing 400 people, with over 250 injured. The Afghan Taliban government spokesperson confirmed the death toll from the strike on what has been described as a 2,000-bed drug addiction treatment centre in the Afghan capital. Rescue teams are attempting to control fires at the building and recover victims’ bodies. Pakistan has claimed it targeted important Taliban military bases. The conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been ongoing for the past 10 days, with statements coming from both sides. Afghanistan’s defence minister had previously warned that if Kabul is targeted, Islamabad would not be safe either. The Afghan Taliban and several cricketers, including Rashid Khan, have condemned the attack as cowardly. The airstrike occurred at around 9pm in central Kabul and nearby areas, marking the largest attack in the ongoing conflict.
