Tensions have sharply escalated along the Durand line as Pakistan launched airstrikes in multiple Afghan cities, targeting Taliban installations. Afghanistan reports that Pakistani airstrikes hit various provinces including the capital city Kabul, though no casualties have been reported from the Kabul strikes so far. Pakistan claims it carried out operations in response to Afghan aggression in the regions of Chitral, Khyber, Bahman, Kurram, and Bajor sectors along their borders. The Afghan side states they launched an operation in retaliation to Pakistani airstrikes from a few days ago. Taliban forces claim to have neutralised around 55 Pakistani soldiers and captured some Pakistani forces during intense fighting. Pakistan has declared it ‘will not be compromising on territorial integrity’ and that no one beyond reach will face tough response. This marks one of the most serious flare-ups between the two nations along their border.
