Pak PM In Beijing For CPEC 2.0 Launch, Military Parade Amid US-China Balochistan Tussle

Following the 25th SCO summit, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is set to attend a military parade in Beijing on September 3rd, 2025, and launch CPEC 2.0 with President Xi Jinping. India maintains its firm opposition to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, stating it violates territorial integrity by passing through Gilgit-Baltistan. The project faces challenges, including minimal returns on China’s over $30 billion investment, terrorist attacks on Chinese workers, and corruption. A new geopolitical dimension is emerging as Pakistan has reportedly offered the United States access to mineral and rare earth resources in Balochistan. This move is said to have upset China, with analysts indicating that Beijing feels its long-standing support is being undermined, as one source described China’s stance: ‘we’ve invested in you, we held your hand in a very difficult situation and now you are going and promising all the wealth to America.’ #cpec #china #pakistan #scosummit #balochistan #uschinarelations #geopolitics #cpec2 #shahbazsharif #xijinping #india #beltandroad #militaryparade #afpak #foreignpolicy
