A group of five to six foreign terrorists carried out a terror attack in Pahalgam after conducting a recce from April 1st to April 7th. The terrorists were well-armed and prepared with backpacks containing dry fruits, medicines, and communication equipment, typical of a Pakistan toolkit. Intelligence agencies report that the terrorists had local support in planning the attack. The same group is believed to be linked to a previous attack on an under-construction tunnel in Sonmarg.
