Pahalgam Terror Attack: Opposition Unites, Calls for Accountability Amid Candlelight Vigils

The Congress organized a peace march at its headquarters to pay tribute to victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Top Congress leaders including Rahul, Priyanka, and Sonia Gandhi were expected to join. In a rare show of unity, opposition parties backed the government’s response in an all-party meeting, where they were briefed on the attack. Some concerns were raised about intelligence failures and the Prime Minister’s absence from the meeting. The Pahalgam terror attack has led to nationwide mourning and calls for retaliation. India has responded with diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including suspension of the Indus Water Treaty and closure of borders. Opposition parties have united in support of the government while also raising questions about security lapses. Pakistan has denied involvement and issued threats, including warnings of ‘all-out war’. Candlelight vigils are being held across India to honor the victims.
