Security forces are engaged in a gunfight with terrorists in the general area of Lidwas in Kashmir under ‘Operation Mahadev’. The operation, which began tracking the terrorists since April 22, is targeting those suspected of carrying out the Pahalgam massacre. According to the army, “contact has been established in the general area of Lidwas operation is in progress.” Sources indicate two terrorists may have been neutralized and one injured, with a high probability of them being the Pahalgam attackers. The suspected foreign terrorists, linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba’s proxy ‘The Resistance Front’, allegedly received logistical support from locals. This development comes as a parliamentary debate on security is underway and follows broader Indian counter-terrorism actions, including targeting terror hotbeds like Muridke and Bahawalpur.
