AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that Public Sector Banks have not recovered most of the money they wrote off. He said media reports show that banks wrote off ₹6.15 lakh crore in the last five years, but recovered only ₹1.6 lakh crore, even though the government says the money will be recovered.
Owaisi also said that India is vulnerable to China’s trade policy because it imports a large amount of urea from China. He pointed out that the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers is asking for an extra ₹31,066 crore in supplementary grants, which is a 16.39% increase. He questioned why the government allowed India to depend so much on China for urea imports.
