INDIA Allinace parties have submitted a formal notice under Article 94 C of the Constitution seeking the removal of the Lok Sabha Speaker. The notice, backed by 118 MPs, cites grievances including the repeated denial of opportunities for Rahul Gandhi to speak and the suspension of opposition members. Notably, the Leader of the Opposition did not sign the notice, with sources stating it is ‘not appropriate for the Leader of Opposition to sign a no-confidence notice against the Speaker’ to respect parliamentary dignity. A factual error in the initial notice, which cited the year 2025 instead of 2026, led to the submission of a revised version. Meanwhile, BJP women MPs have countered by demanding action against opposition members for allegedly surrounding the Prime Minister’s chair. The government maintains that the opposition is failing to speak on scheduled subjects despite being allotted time, while the Finance Minister is set to reply to the budget discussion in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
