Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a high-level security meeting with the three service chiefs, Chief of Defence Staff, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. This meeting comes amid ongoing border tensions with Pakistan, with reports of shelling in Uri and Poonch. The Ministry of External Affairs has revealed that Pakistan did not close its airspace during drone attacks on Indian cities, putting civilian aircraft at risk. India has suspended the Kartarpur Sahib corridor in response to Pakistan’s actions. Pakistan has been targeting civilian settlements and villages in Poonch and Uri, resulting in over 15 civilian casualties. Constant shelling and crossfire has been reported for over a fortnight, with Pakistan using artillery, drones, and missiles. Indian forces are retaliating and evacuating civilians from vulnerable areas. Authorities have ordered blackouts and high alert across border regions in anticipation of further attacks.
