A fierce encounter between security forces and terrorists, named Operation Akhal, continues for a third day in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Security sources have confirmed that three terrorists, suspected to be from Lashkar-e-Taiba, have been killed in the ongoing operation, and one soldier has sustained injuries. The joint operation by the Army, J&K Police, and other security agencies is taking place in a densely forested area, which security forces believe provides significant hiding space for militants. A security source stated, "this encounter which is considered as one of the longest encounters in this year is still going on because there are probably chances that probably there might be some hideout or any more terrorists in the area." The operation in the Akhal forest area began on Friday following intelligence inputs.
