Operation Akhal in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district has entered its tenth day. The encounter continues with security forces engaged in a hunt for terrorists. So far, three terrorists have been killed in the operation, and the body of one terrorist has been recovered. Two soldiers from the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles were killed in action, and ten soldiers are injured and receiving treatment. This operation is one of the longest encounters in the Kashmir Valley in the recent times, particularly in 2020. Security forces aim to corner highly trained Pakistani terrorists, identified as TRF terrorists, hiding in the dense forests of Akhal. Paratroopers from the Indian Army and other security agencies are working in synergy.
