According to the latest report filtering out the hermit kingdom of North Korea, Dictator Kim Jong is less than pleased about a failed warship launch and has vowed to punish those responsible. Kim, the latest in the line of strongmen ruling North Korea, has pushed his nation along a path of rapid naval modernisation in recent years to take on the US and South Korea.
Just last month, North Korea launched a so-called ‘new generation’ warship called the Choe Hyon, a large and supposedly advanced destroyer made indigenously. The ship is supposedly capable of launching nuclear ballistic and cruise missiles.
This week, North Korea attempted to launch another ship, supposedly of similar specs to the Choe Hyon, with an equal amount of pomp and fanfare.
During a launch ceremony attended by Kim Jong Un himself, the as-yet unnamed 5,000 tonne ship was severely damaged during the launch ceremony.
