Torrential monsoon rains have triggered deadly landslides and flash floods in North-East India, causing widespread devastation and claiming at least 25 lives. Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Sikkim are among the most affected states. The Brahmaputra river has crossed the danger mark in Dibrugarh, Assam, while Imphal river in Manipur has breached critical levels. In Sikkim, over 1,500 tourists are stranded due to landslides and a collapsed bamboo bridge. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have launched operation ‘Jal Rahat 2’, rescuing more than 2,000 people in Assam and Imphal.
