Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reply to the discussion on the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Parliament. The five-hour debate is expected to resume at 12 noon, with Shah speaking at the end, likely around 5 pm or 5.30 pm. The motion was moved by Congress, with opposition MP Gaurav Gogoi raising concerns that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to speak on certain issues and alleged his microphone was switched off during proceedings. TMC MP Mahua Moitra referred to her own expulsion while participating in the debate. The NDA holds approximately 293 MPs in the 543-member Lok Sabha, while the India bloc has around 234 with 13 others. The motion requires a simple majority to pass, making its success unlikely given the numerical strength of the government.
