It was supposed to be a battle at the box office, but the two films – Parasakthi and Jana Nayagan – now find themselves in very different situations. Parasakthi is all set for a grand release tomorrow. The film is widely seen as being backed by the DMK, aligns with the party’s political messaging, and draws heavily from themes of anti‑Hindi agitations – one of the core reasons behind the DMK’s very foundation.
Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan continues to face one legal hurdle after another. What we understand is that Vijay is expected to speak soon, though the TVK has not officially reacted and Vijay himself has remained silent. Earlier today, the Madras High Court allowed the film to go ahead, but the CBFC challenged the decision. With the CBFC taking a strong position against Jana Nayagan, nothing favourable is expected for the film at least until January 21.
