Nitin Gadkari Exclusive Interview: Minister's Vision For Roads, EVs & Agri Revolution | India Today

At the Business Today Conclave, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presented a comprehensive vision for India at 100. He detailed plans for a massive infrastructure overhaul, with a target of constructing 100 km of roads per day and reducing logistics costs to 9% to boost exports. A significant focus was placed on shifting to alternative fuels—including electric vehicles, hydrogen, and bio-ethanol—to cut the nation’s ₹22 lakh crore import bill and transform India into an energy exporter. Gadkari identified the upliftment of the rural and agricultural sector as his foremost priority, stating, “…until the agriculture allied sector is not strong…all the achievements you are talking about will never be complete.” He advocated for diversifying agriculture towards the energy and power sector and using technology to boost the sector’s GDP contribution from its current 12% to 22%.
