Nirmala Sitharaman Counters Opposition On Lynching, Recalls Kanhaiya Lal Case In Rajasthan

On this news bulletin, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman strongly countered the Leader of the Opposition’s remarks regarding lynching during a heated debate in Parliament. Sitharaman stated, ‘In Rajasthan, based on a comment made by Nupur Sharma, our spokesperson on the television, their government entered a dam when somebody went and chopped off, lynched the tailor.’ She further questioned the Congress party’s track record, citing the 2010 incident in Kerala where a teacher’s hands were chopped off. The bulletin also covers the ruckus in Rajya Sabha involving Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who attempted to read from an unpublished book by former Army Chief General MM Naravane. The government maintained that the book is not authenticated and currently pending approval with the Ministry of Defence. The session witnessed sharp exchanges over parliamentary protocols, with treasury bench members advising the opposition against making the party a ‘hostage’ to specific leaders while emphasizing democratic conduct within the house.
