The National Investigation Agency has busted a major anti-India terror plot, arresting seven foreign nationals including American citizen Matthew Van Dyke and six Ukrainians in Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. The NIA registered a case under UAPA on March 13 following intelligence inputs. Investigations reveal the accused entered restricted areas in Mizoram without inner-line permits and illegally crossed into Myanmar. The accused confessed to training Myanmar-based ethnic armed groups in drone warfare and jamming techniques, and sourced drone equipment from Europe via Guwahati to Mizoram. They are suspected of providing weapons to banned insurgent organisations and planning logistic support to terrorist elements targeting northeastern India. According to Vikram Singh, former Director General of Police and national security expert, the accused possessed drones, drone technology, smuggling routes, and money. The court has granted NIA an 11-day remand for custodial interrogation. Ukraine has demanded immediate release of its nationals, claiming no proof of terror links, while the United States acknowledged the case. The NIA is investigating local sleeper cells suspected of assisting the accused.
