China has called for a comprehensive lasting ceasefire between India and Pakistan, while expressing support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi referred to Pakistan as China’s ‘ironclad friend’ during a meeting with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishak Daal. The visit comes amid tensions between India and Pakistan, with China providing support to Pakistan. The Indus Water Treaty was also reportedly raised during discussions. Concurrently, China is hosting meetings with Afghan and Iranian foreign ministers in Beijing.
