The Election Commission has announced assembly elections in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Kerala, the Left Democratic Front government also contends with anti-incumbency, but analysts highlight that internal divisions within the Congress party could undermine its chances. The bipolar contest in Tamil Nadu between the DMK and AIADMK alliances could be influenced by actor-turned-politician Vijay’s political entry. In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s campaign has focused on consolidating Hindu votes through polarizing rhetoric.
