Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 6.5 km Z-Morh tunnel in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, as part of efforts to improve year-round connectivity to Ladakh. The tunnel will significantly reduce travel time and bypass avalanche-prone areas, with the adjacent Zojila tunnel expected to be completed by 2028. The project aims to boost the local economy, tourism, and enhance India’s strategic capabilities along its northern borders. Meanwhile, the Mahakumbh 2025, a 45-day spiritual festival, has begun in Prayagraj, attracting over 1.5 crore devotees who took the holy dip at the Sangam on Paush Poornima. The event draws pilgrims worldwide, including Laureen Powell Jobs, widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, and features a seven-ring security plan for pilgrim safety. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in Makar Sankranti and Lohri festivities in Delhi.
