An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, resulting in over 200 feared dead, making it India’s worst civil aviation tragedy in over three decades. The aircraft lost power at about 400 feet altitude and crashed into a residential area near the airport, impacting a hostel of BJ Medical College and injuring several students. Only one survivor has been reported so far. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among those who died. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with officials cautioning against speculation until the black box data is analyzed.
