Several people were injured in Israeli attacks on residential societies in Beirut, the first attack within the city limits since the country escalated hostilities against Iran’s allies in the region. Israeli drones targeted apartment buildings in the Kola area of the Lebanese capital, wounding several people, including Hezbollah political leaders. In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said, "We carried out attacks in Beirut and are now striking Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon." The increasing frequency of Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen has raised fears that the Middle East fighting could spiral out of control and involve Iran and the United States, Israel’s main ally.
