A stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has resulted in 30 deaths and 60 injuries. The incident took place early Wednesday morning at the Sangam Ghat during the auspicious Mouni Amavasya bathing day. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe into the tragedy. Questions are being raised about crowd management and VIP arrangements at the event. Former officials suggest that separate entry-exit points and better crowd control measures could have prevented the tragedy. The administration is facing criticism for initially downplaying the severity of the incident.
