Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje spoke in Dhanbad, Jharkhand about mine safety and labour laws. She said mining happens across India and is important for the country’s development. She explained that DGMS, started during the British period, works to ensure the safety of mines and workers.
She added that the Government of India has introduced new Labour Codes, including a separate OSH Code focused on health and worker safety. She said the role of DGMS will become even more important in the future as it will help implement these labour laws on the ground. The Prime Minister has clearly stated that worker safety is a top priority. The government has begun implementing all four Labour Codes nationwide, and DGMS will play a key role in making sure they are followed at the grassroots level.
