Nepal's Power Puzzle: Gen Z Demands Parliament Dissolved, Sushila Karki May Lead Interim Govt

Nepal continues to remain in limbo following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after violent protests. Young Gen Z demonstrators are demanding the dissolution of parliament, a new cabinet under former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, and a youth panel to oversee governance. Sources indicate an agreement on Karki forming an interim government is in its final stages, with talks ongoing between the army, Gen Z representatives, and Karki. The army has been deployed across Kathmandu to maintain law and order, with curfews in place following the September 9th violence. While political parties oppose the dissolution of parliament, Nepal’s intellectuals have urged the President to form an interim government and call for fresh elections, calling it "the most constitutional way forward."
