Nepal is grappling with political instability as its GenZ population, which led an anti-corruption movement that overthrew the regime, now seeks to appoint a new leader. This youth-led movement is using the social media platform Discord to conduct polls for their future representative. However, these digital polls face significant credibility issues. India Today’s open-source intelligence team exposed a major vulnerability, demonstrating that non-Nepali citizens can cast votes from outside the country, raising serious concerns about foreign interference. This revelation comes as the once-united youth movement is now divided. Amid the uncertainty and with a curfew in place in Kathmandu, these technological loopholes are compounding risks and threatening the legitimacy of the process to select the country’s next leader. The anti-establishment sentiment driving the movement was captured in messages like, "Kill the fake leadership."
