In Nepal, former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma-Oli’s party is reacting to the youth-led protests that resulted in his ouster, labelling the movement as ‘anarchy’. The party has called for an investigation to identify individuals who they state indulged in violence and targeted the country’s institutions. This response comes after violent events on September 9, which were preceded by a crackdown on September 8 where 19 peaceful protesters were reportedly shot. The ‘Gen Z’ protesters had been raising their voices against several issues within the country. As one report noted, "the people in Nepal were talking about corruption. They were talking about nepotism They were talking about lack of opportunity They were talking about there are no jobs and inflation that is rising every day."
