Nepal has officially released a new 100 rupee currency note that features a disputed map including the Indian territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani. The External Affairs Minister has denounced this move, stating that ‘any unilateral action does not change ground reality.’ The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that the boundary issue is a subject of ongoing dialogue. India has previously cautioned Nepal that such ‘artificial enlargement of territorial claims will not be acceptable.’ The release of the note follows its approval by the Nepalese Cabinet in May 2024.
