Nepal Protests: Gen Z Demands Complete Ouster of Political Class Amid Violence | India Today News

Protests have erupted across Kathmandu, with Nepal’s ‘Gen Z’ at the forefront of the movement. While initially sparked by a government ban on social media, which has since been withdrawn, the demonstrations have evolved into a larger call for systemic change. Protesters are now demanding the ouster of the entire political class, including both the government and opposition figures like former Prime Minister Prachand, whose house was reportedly vandalised. The core issue driving the unrest is widespread corruption. One protester stated, “that was just the beginning of it, but the main agenda was about corruption.” The situation on the ground remains tense, with reports of demonstrators clashing with the Armed Police Force, who have used tear gas. The youth-led movement is also taking inspiration from recent political developments in Bangladesh and the Philippines.
