Ongoing surveys of places of worship, including mosques, will be paused, the Supreme Court said Thursday as it began hearing petitions challenging certain provisions of the Places of Worship Act. Lower courts – including High Courts – were specifically directed to not pass any order on surveys of mosques, or hear any new cases, till it next hears this matter.
