Goa Nightclub Fire Highlights: Twenty-five people, including four tourists and 14 staff members, were killed in a fire at a nightclub, the Birch by Romeo Lane, in Goa on Sunday. The fire at the popular party venue at Arpora village, around 25 kilometres from the state capital Panaji, broke out around 12 am, officials said.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who visited the site early morning, told NDTV that the general manager of the nightclub has been arrested. He said an arrest warrant has also been issued against the owner, and that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the incident deeply saddening and said he has spoken to Sawant about the situation.
IndiGo is on track to operate over 1,650 flights, up from 1,500 yesterday, the airline said in a status update this evening. It said 137 out of 138 destinations are in operation with on-time performance of 75 per cent, up from 30 per cent yesterday.
The airline iterated it will give full waiver on cancellations and reschedule requests for bookings till December 15. The process of refunds and sorting luggage is going on fast, it said.
"We are working round the clock to resume normal service. Please bear with us," IndiGo said in its latest status update today.
