NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as the next Vice President of India, succeeding Jagdeep Dhankhar. Radhakrishnan, who was the Governor of Maharashtra, won the election with 452 first-preference votes against the opposition candidate Justice Sudarshan Reddy’s 300 votes. Following the victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and congratulated him. In a post, the Prime Minister stated that Radhakrishnan’s life "has always been devoted to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalized." Celebrations for the win were muted, as planned dinners were cancelled due to the flood situation in Himachal and Punjab. The election also brought attention to potential cross-voting, with an NDA partner claiming that more votes intended for Radhakrishnan were declared invalid. Radhakrishnan, a veteran leader from Tamil Nadu with a long association with the RSS and BJP, will be sworn into office in the coming days and will primarily be responsible for running the Rajya Sabha. #cpradhakrishnan #vicepresident #india #nda #vpelection #narendramodi #bjp #indianpolitics #politics #rajyasabha #crossvoting #amitshah #rajnathsingh #breakingnews #newsupdate #maharashtra
