NASA is set to launch the Dragonfly Rotorcraft Mission to Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, in July 2028. This drone-like rotorcraft will explore multiple locations on Titan to study its habitability and prebiotic chemistry. The mission, now costing $3.35 billion, has been delayed by two years but will use a heavy-lift launch vehicle to shorten travel time. Dragonfly is the first aerial mission on another planetary body, designed to analyze Titan’s organic-rich environment and its potential similarities to early Earth. It is being developed by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory for NASA.
