NASA has captured one of the largest and most complete Einstein rings ever discovered, named GAL CLUS 02205-858. Located in the southern constellation of Fornax, this mesmerizing object, nicknamed the "Molten Ring" by astronomers, was photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope. The Einstein ring phenomenon, first theorized by Albert Einstein in his general theory of relativity, occurs due to gravitational lensing. This process bends light from distant galaxies, allowing scientists to study far-off objects that would otherwise be invisible. In this case, the light from a background galaxy is distorted into a perfect ring shape by the gravity of a galaxy cluster in front of it. This rare and striking cosmic phenomenon provides valuable insights into the universe’s most distant galaxies.
